Reel Magic: the Golden Age
Written by Daniel Wainwright and Directed by Luke Campbell
This October Players will acknowledge 40 years of staging musicals and musical revues by relaunching its musical brand with an entirely new musical revue series: Reel Magic.
This instalment in the series is the Golden Age. In line with Players unique style this is like no show you will ever see. Group writer, Dan Wainwright, has crafted a special show for the group, the show will be lead by our Junior Members – becoming their show in our 40th Programme.
The story starts with a group of friends stumbling across an abandoned movie filming plot in the US of A! With a little help from some Reel Magic (and a chaperone to guide their travels!), our junior cast will be transported back in time to high days of this film plot and straight into the filming of some of our most loved movie musicals and films. As the story unravels the children will bump into Hollywood royalty, will cause mischief as they do – annoying the shooting directors! They will also make some friends and some enemies!
This show will be full of big songs, massive dance numbers and larger than life actual and physical comedy. Its set will be contemporary and visionary, and the costumes outstanding.
The producing team is made up of some of Players most experienced show producers. The script is written by Dan Wainwright, whose work is Noda recognised; directed by Luke Campbell, who brought you shows like the Woman in White and Alice in Pantoland; Musically directed by Amy Wainright, who worked on Musical Mayhem and Enchanted Forest vocals; the Creative Director will be the talented James Campbell; and the show is produced by Ali Everitt assisted by Kim Hollis and Bob Mutch.
Do not miss out on this amazing show, which runs from 18th October to 21st October. If you are interested in being involved in this show, come along to the read through which will be on the 28 June at 19:30 at Irchester Working Men’s Club.
